District Move to Remote: 4 or More Metrics Failing Each of 2 Weeks
- The 4 failing metrics can be different between the 2 weeks.
- Surveillance testing/metrics will continue regardless of remote or in-person mode.
- 10-day minimum remote mode if district threshold is surpassed

- Review of health and safety measures at schools
- Review of available metrics

Metric #1: Town of Wellesley State Risk Designation
Failing: “Red”
- ≥10.0 new daily cases per 100,000 over 14 days prior, published weekly and
- ≥5.0% positivity rate over 14 days prior, published weekly.
- The state determines the metrics that inform the state risk designation.
Metric #2: Staff Home Communities Risk Designation
Failing: “Red”
- Staff home community average ≥10.0 new daily cases per 100,000 over 14 days prior, published weekly and
- Staff home community average ≥5.0% positivity rate over 14 days prior, published weekly.
- The metrics that determine risk designation are based on state risk designation metrics.
Metric #3: WPS Staff and Students Risk Designation
Failing: “Red”
- ≥5.0 new daily cases over 14 days prior, calculated weekly and
- ≥2.0% surveillance positivity rate over 14 days prior, calculated weekly.
Metric #4: In-School Transmission
Failing: ≥3 Schools Above Threshold
- School threshold: 2 instances of in-school transmission over 14 days prior, calculated weekly.
- In-school transmission is determined by the Wellesley Health Department and the WPS Nursing Department following thorough investigations.
Metric #5: Total Number of Cases
Failing: ≥3 Schools Above Threshold
- PK-5 school threshold: 3 cases in 3 different classrooms over 14 days prior, calculated weekly.
- Secondary school threshold: 10 cases over 14 days prior, calculated weekly.
- WPS Case Tracking will continue to display the number of cases per school, per day.
Metric #6: Percent in Quarantine/Isolation
Failing: ≥3 Schools Above Threshold
- 10% of staff and students absent due to quarantine/isolation at any time during the week, averaged across 2 weeks, calculated weekly.
Metric #7: Staffing Sufficiency (Operational)
Failing: ≥3 Schools Above Threshold
- 1 “Red” day in each 2 weeks, calculated weekly.
- A “Red” day is one where staffing is not sufficient and the school must operate remotely.
Full Return to School for Students and Staff
District will move to a full-return for students when each of these conditions are met:
- The state does not prohibit the full return of students and staff to school districts;
- Each of the measures of the District Dashboard remains below identified thresholds for four weeks;
- All state safety guidelines can be maintained with all students and staff back in buildings; and
- Approval by the Wellesley School Committee, who shall consider the advice from the Wellesley Board of Health and the WEA/WPS Health and Safety Committee.
