Thank you to everyone who expressed a willingness to serve on the Superintendent’s Advisory Committees that I have established in partnership with the Wellesley Education Foundation. We were overwhelmed by the level of interest and expertise of those who answered our call to support the Wellesley Public Schools. This response also affirmed our belief that we are blessed with incredible intellectual capital in our community, which we believe can be leveraged as we continue to chart our course for the future of the school district.
Each of our committees will be comprised of community members, 1-2 WEF board members, and key members of the WPS staff who, together, will form a group of thought partners to take stock of our current efforts and provide guidance on our future work in the following key areas:
Each advisory committee has four directives:
- Help inspire the vision for the Wellesley Public Schools
- Support the programming for the vision
- Determine the needed infrastructure and hardware
- Establish partnerships to work toward the vision
We were excited to kick off this work with a joint meeting of the four committees on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. At this meeting, we reviewed our overall charge, and committee members had a chance to meet one another and work through some key logistics for the year. We look forward to our exciting work in the days ahead!
