Fiske Falcon

Fiske Families,

What a Fisketastic week we had with all our students back together again.  We also welcomed some new friends to Fiske.  Throughout the week students shared how much they enjoy being back together once more!

Our new arrival and dismissal plan is off to a great start.  Just a few quick reminders;

  • When arriving to school all grade 3-5 students must walk around the school via the primary playground.  The lower parking lot has many moving cars. For safety reasons we do not want children walking through that area.

  • At the end of the day walkers are dismissed first.  Please make sure that the person responsible for picking up your child is at the primary playground or the front of the school by 3:00 p.m.  Carline dismissal will not be started until the walkers have left the school grounds so we ask the walkers to exit the area in a timely manner.

  • All cars must remain in the carline until a Fiske staff member waves the entire carline forward to exit the parking lot.  For the safety of the staff and students do not pull out of line because you have dropped off or picked up your child.  Waiting for a few moments assures the safety of all.

Our Student Council is planning our next  community project.  The spring project is to further grow our Fiske Kindness Rock Garden.  On Wednesday, April 14th Student Council will host an assembly to share this project with all staff and students.  Our resident expert on kindness rock  gardens, Mrs. Giorlando, will demonstrate the process she goes through to create a rock for a garden.  All students and staff will then spend time during the day to create a rock to place in our garden.  We are very excited for this community event.

Matt Wihelm

This past Wednesday Laura Campbell and Teresa Peters organized an incredible virtual assembly with BMX Bike Rider Champion Matt Wilhelm.  Matt showed the children some of his amazing tricks and how he uses growth mindset to learn all his tricks.  Another important message Matt shared was for all studnets to think about how their words leave impressions on the people they are speaking with.  Matt encouraged all the students to make sure they use positive words with the person they are speaking with and to be an upstander when someone is being unkind to a peer. These messages reflected our Fiske Fundamentals; Fair, Inclusive, Safe, Kind and Encouraging. Thank you to  Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Peters  and the PTO for hosting this event.

PTO Meeting

Please join us for our April PTO meeting on Thursday, April 15th at 6:30 p.m.  Be on the lookout for the Zoom link that will be sent next week.

Staff Snacks

Thank you to the Price family for providing staff snacks this week.  The staff enjoyed the treats throughout the week.  Thank you for your generosity.

Spread the Word!

Tell your friends and neighbors to register their children for Kindergarten or if they are planning to return to Fiske from private or home schooling.  Registration to attend WPS in SY 2021-22 remains open for all grades. We strongly encourage any new or returning families to register now by visiting the district’s registration page and submitting the required documents.  Early registration will assist the district in its planning for the new school year.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
