Fiske Families,

This week during library and art the Fiske Falcons participated in the marshmallow challenge.  Students worked together to develop and revise their plans to make taller and stronger structures.  Take some time this weekend to ask your child/children about this activity. Thank you to our Librarian, Pam Allen ,and Art Teacher, Marie Cosgrove, for facilitating these activities.

For the safety of our students, the upper parking lot is closed to parking during arrival (8:00-8:30 a.m.) and dismissal (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 2:30-3:30 p.m. or Wed 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.). The front driveway is a one-way street used for pick up and dismissal.  On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday our PAWS friends are dismissed from 2:30-2:50.  Please DO NOT arrive for Fiske pickup before 2:50 so our littlest friends can be dismissed safely.

Just a few reminders from our amazing Nurse, Betsy Hindmarsh.

  • If your child shows signs of a cold/illness please keep them home and check in with their pediatrician

●    Visit the WPS Nursing Website and schedule a PCR test when applicable or advised by the nurse

  • Even minor symptoms need testing

  • PCR tests can be done at Project Beacon, urgent cares, pediatricians, CVS etc. (*Please note we do not accept home tests/rapid tests*)

  • Results need to be sent to your school nurse before your child can return to school

Your child can return to school when they;

● have a negative PCR result (when applicable)

● have improving symptoms

● are fever-free for 24 hours without medication

If your child is ill over the weekend, please contact their provider for guidance.  Nurse emails are not checked over the weekend. The Nurses will respond to email inquiries as soon as they are able the day following a weekend or holiday.

Lastly, a reminder that each child should bring two masks to school each day.

Thank you

Parents and guardians are invited to join us outside for our annual Halloween Parade on Friday, October 29th at 8:45 a.m. Spectators will be asked to line up outside on the primary playground or the field to view the parade. If the weather does not cooperate we will have the parade inside for the students.  Unfortunately, if the weather requires us to have the parade inside we will not be able to have parents or guardians join us.   Let’s hope for nice weather!

Many children have asked about Halloween masks, face paint and wigs.  Children are not permitted to wear Halloween masks, face paint or wigs to school for the parade.   In addition, children should leave all props at home.

Please inform your child’s classroom teacher if  they will not be walking in the parade.  A fall activity will take place in the library for students who are not participating in the parade.

Enjoy!
