Hello Hardy<\/p>\n

Highlights from the past week:<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday, our mascot Hero the Husky visited classrooms that hit their Paws target. Shhh\u2026don\u2019t tell Hardy students this top secret – Kudos to parent volunteer Jennifer Saull, who comes in each Friday and puts on the Hero costume and accompanies me to classrooms to congratulate students.<\/p>\n

On Friday, we also had an all school meeting featuring our second graders. Students taught the school about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We also had student talents on display.<\/p>\n

Mrs. O\u2019Brien – Mystery Person at All-School Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the second grade assembly, we had a mystery person, who was our Assistant Principal\/Team Chair Mrs. O\u2019Brien. Hardy students learned facts about Mrs. O\u2019Brien including that she has 3 children and a dog named Emmie. We are so fortunate to have Mrs. O\u2019Brien serving at Hardy!<\/p>\n

School Council Update<\/strong><\/p>\n

The School Council met in January and continued our discussion on the book The Anxious Generation<\/u> by Jonathan Haidt. This book addresses the evolution of the play-based childhood to the current reality of the phone based-childhood and resulting negative consequences. The Council has submitted a grant application to the Wellesley Education Foundation to fund a speaker to provide a presentation to parents\/guardians on this topic. Stay tuned for more information on the work of the School Council in newsletters to come.<\/p>\n
