Dear Hunnewell Parents,
The children are getting very excited for our Hunnewell Day of Play, scheduled for April 27th beginning at 9:45 am.
The students have begun designing their projects and will bring home a list of supplies they will need to build their cardboard creation. All items must fit into a grocery size bag, including the cardboard. Mr. Knapp has explained to the children that if they want to make something larger than would fit in the bag, the piece of cardboard must be able to be held under the student’s arm. The parent must also be available at dismissal to help get it home. We are encouraging students to use recycled items (bottle caps, old buttons, string, paper and toilet paper rolls, old game pieces, tin foil) for any special design features. This is intended to be a low-budget, all-imagination DAY OF PLAY! We have accumulated some extra cardboard and recycled accoutrements just in case a child forgets their bag or needs an extra doodad. If you are interested in donating packing, masking or duct tape, please send it in with your child on Monday or Tuesday after vacation.
Finally, we are looking for volunteers who are willing to work in classrooms supporting children. While we will try to assign you into your child’s classroom, we are looking for volunteers who are willing to help a multitude of children cut cardboard, manage tape and troubleshoot technical glitches. If you are interested in volunteering from 9:45-12:00, please email Amy. If you have any time constraints, please indicate this in your email.Sincerely,Ellen
