A couple of weeks ago the PTO put out a call in Hunnewell Happenings to ask parents interested in serving on the School Council to contact our new PTO Presidents, Megan Foley and Niki Ofenloch and at our staff meeting today, I also solicited teacher interest in serving. Additionally, I am writing this letter to insure that we have used multiple communication channels to solicit interest in serving on the Hunnewell School Council.
For those of you who may have missed the blurb in Hunnewell Happenings or to those of you who may not be familiar with the purpose and import of School Council, I want to emphasize the important role this building-based committee plays in improving our school community. The School Council is a site-based decision-making body that helps shape and oversee our School Improvement Plan, which is drafted every three years and revised every year to reflect growth and future areas of improvement. This team assists me in making sure the goals set forth in our School Improvement Plan are in-line with the district initiatives, enhance and promote our strengths, and also reflect the current and future needs of our community.
At this time, I extend my sincere appreciation to our two parents, Kelley Wigren and Beanie Spangler, and our teacher, Donna McFarlane, who have each completed a two-year term on the School Council. They were very much a part of drafting our current 2016-19 School Improvement Plan and supporting our commitment to the social/emotional and academic success of our students. Their thoughtful insight and feedback was critical to our work as a school community.
If you are interested in serving on the Council, please contact PTO Co-Presidents, Megan Foley and Niki Ofenloch by Monday, June 12. Should you have any questions or need further clarification of the role, please reach out to me.
