What an incredible two days it has been for our Hunnewell Class of 2017!
First off, our Fifth Grade Moving-On Ceremony was spectacular. After the fifth graders warmed our hearts with song, we traveled back in-time with them via the fifth grade slide show to catch a glimmer of the wonderful memories they have shared as a class and with their teachers since kindergarten. Thank you to Amy Lund and Leslie Prowda for creating such a wonderful tribute to their friendships and our CARE values.
Yesterday afternoon, we celebrated their many talents as comedians, magicians, singers, dancers, and pianists. Step aside America’s Got Talent, Hunnewell’s talent could steal your ratings. Thank you to Katie Dexter who encourages students to participate and works with the students to make sure they are ready to go when the curtain goes up! BRAVO!!!
Finally the time came to say our final good-byes with our traditional ALL IN CLAP-OUT! Our fifth graders walk each of the hallways one final time. The younger students and former teachers look on with wonder and admiration and offer their final salute with hugs and high fives, and then the doors of Hunnewell fly open one final time to waiting parents, grandparents and friends. It is a great moment, filled with smiles and tears. Our fifth graders are ready to move-on, and I think they would acknowledge that Hunnewell is a great place to grow-up!
Please join me in thanking Hilary Prus and Tammy Battaglino for coordinating all of the fifth grade end-of-year activities, including the generous Class of 2017 gift, a carpet for our front hall, showcasing an orange H on a blue background. See attached.
In closing, I thank Ms. Haskell and Ms. Sullivan for shepherding the Class of 2107 through their last year at Hunnewell and to all of the teachers at Hunnewell who poured their heart and soul into helping these kiddos reach their potential as caring, thoughtful, creative, and curious individuals.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2017!
