Dear Upham School Community,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well. I am writing to inform you that there is a positive case of COVID-19 at the Upham School. As we planned for reopening our schools, we anticipated this situation and have a comprehensive plan to identify anyone who was at risk of exposure or in close contact, continue our deep cleaning protocols, and most importantly provide support and protect the privacy of the individual and their family as they navigate this stressful experience.

In this situation, the individual was not in school during the contagious period so there was no need for contact tracing within the building.

I want to reassure you that we continue to adhere to all of our safety protocols that we have put in place. The weekly surveillance screening is providing an additional layer of information as we work to keep our schools open and healthy. As a reminder, the WPD Dashboard WPS Case Tracking has all the current case tracking information for the district.

Anytime there is an outbreak of a virus or illness it can be very unsettling for families and staff. Keeping everyone informed, safe, and healthy is always our priority. If any other special instructions develop, it will be communicated to all members of the school community.

Please consult with your primary care physician or your school nurse if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Linda Corridan

Director of Nursing Services
