Dear Upham Community,

I know this letter usually shows up on Friday. Since some of you are leaving early for our spring break next week, I wanted to reach out today. It has been a long march through March and the children deserve a much-needed break. I will speak for the teachers and say they deserve a much-needed break as well.

For those attending school tomorrow please remind your child it is “PAJAMA DAY!”

If you are traveling enjoy your trip and please be safe. For those of us remaining in the area have fun and be safe.

2021-22 Placement

At this time, we are writing to inform you of the student placement process for those students currently in grades K – 4.  Our goal is to make the best possible placement for every child at Upham Elementary. We will be working to create heterogeneous and balanced classes.

Your child’s teacher will work with the other members of their grade level team to create effective instructional groups.  The following factors will be considered:  class size, boy/girl ratio, social relationships that work well in the classroom environment, individual learning characteristics, and parent input.

As part of this process, we welcome your input.  If you wish, you may complete the Your Child as A Learner form (attached) and return it to the main office by Friday, May 28.  Your comments should include specific information related to your child’s academic priorities and any social-emotional considerations.  Please do not request an individual teacher, as we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers and or classmates. Also, please remind us of any concerns that you may have raised in past years. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank you for your support,

Dare to Dream,

Mr. Dees
