Dear Upham Community,

Summer is upon us, and as we approach the final day of the year, I would like to say to each of you, thank you! I appreciate your patience, thank you for your understanding, and more importantly, thank you for allowing us the opportunity and honor of teaching your children.

This has been an especially challenging year for all of us, and yet each challenge has allowed us to grow beyond our normal limits. It has taught us to be more understanding, listen more carefully, and hopefully love deeper. Please take some time to relax and recharge during the summer. Take time to be with your loved ones. Maybe even hug them a little tighter, love a little more, and laugh often.

Personally, “goodbye” is not a word I prefer. I would rather say, “see you later.” Goodbye seems to me, final. The friendships we have developed are lifelong, not final. So, let’s go with “I’ll see you later.”

We have some friends we need to say, “see you later” to. Our fifth graders are moving on to their next adventure, and we wish them the best. We want to recognize those families that will be leaving Upham. The Baxter’s, Beauvais’, Borneo’s, Cardoso-Azubuko’s, Collins’, Dabrezile’s, Del Col’s, Farland’s, Fleischmann’s, Gurtler’s, Keller’s, Lai’s, McMahon’s, Mojica’s, Moore’s, Morse’s, Nguyen’s, Nolan’s, Sciortino’s, and Shaw’s. Thank you for your service to Upham. Remember, once an Upham Eagle, always an Upham Eagle.

We also want to recognize some of the staff members moving on. Thank you, Mrs. Eagan for your service to the children and families of Upham. Mrs. Eagan has decided to remain at home with her family and will not be returning next year. Mrs. Eagan has given her heart each day. You will be missed and cannot be replaced. We say, “see you later” to Mrs. Bergeron. Thank you for your outstanding contribution to the children and families you’ve served. You are a difference-maker. Mrs. Bergeron will be moving to Schofield as a first-grade teacher. Mrs. Livingstone, you are an incredible teacher and brought such goodness to us all, thank you. Mrs. Livingstome will be moving to Hunnewell’s first grade. And remember…Once an Upham Eagle, always an Upham Eagle.
