Dear Students and Parents/Guardians:
I hope you have enjoyed your summer vacation thus far and have found the time to refresh and rejuvenate!
We are grateful for the continued support of the Wellesley community and School Committee. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to create a House Model at Wellesley High School this year and welcome the addition of a Housemaster and a full-time school counselor. This positive change will undoubtedly help us to continue to deliver high quality service to more manageable caseloads.
Some of you may wonder exactly what a Housemaster does and how it is different than an Assistant Principal. The Housemasters will all have the same responsibilities that our Assistant Principals did, plus additional duties like scheduling and special program supervision. The main benefit from moving to the house system is that the Housemaster, House secretary and the Guidance Counselors will all match caseloads. The benefit for families is that your main point of contact at the high school will be an office where a Housemaster, Counselor and secretary all know your child. Any school questions you may have about your child can start at the House and be directed from there if necessary.
These additions do bring about some organizational changes. In order to incorporate the new counselor position into the Wellesley High Guidance and Counseling Department there will be a shift in alphabetical counseling assignments. Rest assured, seniors will not change counselors! Counselors new to students will be reaching out to you prior to the start of the school year. Housemasters will also align their new caseloads alphabetically, working collaboratively with counselors and families within their respective house suites. The Housemaster and Counselor caseload assignments for 2014-2015 are attached to this email. Counselor biographies are available at

Julie Trask accepted the role of the additional school counselor position. Julie is happy to return to her roots as a school counselor, effective August 2014. This fall, she will be starting her 17th year at WHS.
Steve Favulli has accepted the position as Interim Director of Guidance. Steve comes to us from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA where he previously served as Assistant Principal-Director of Guidance.
Marc Bender is serving as one of our new housemasters. Marc comes to us from Holliston High School, MA where he previously served Assistant Principal.
Drew Kelton has made the transition from social studies teacher to Housemaster
Lynne Novogroski continues her work now as a Housemaster in the second floor suite.
As the school population grows in size and we transition to the House Model, our priority remains the same: to foster an environment where each individual can learn and grow. We are all here to support you and it is our hope that each student feels connected with both his/her counselor and housemaster.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email or call. We look forward to working with you and your children throughout the school year.
