I hope you’re staying safe and warm with our recent blast of winter this past week. I had a question this morning about whether our grade portal will open on time today given the weather and I wanted to write and let you know that indeed it will. The quarter 2 grades will be available by 3 pm this afternoon.
I also wanted to write to remind you of the value in sitting down and talking to your child about their report cards. My children came home from elementary school yesterday and told me part of their homework was to sit with me while I read through their report card and talk about how they learn and what they learn. It was an excellent exercise. It struck me that this is always wise. So, I encourage you to do the same even with your oldest high schooler. My fear is if we only look at the grades then we might lose track of the learning behind them.
On another note, the following is a note from the WPD regarding Middle and High School students in our community on Friday afternoons and half days. A commitment to the larger Wellesley community warrants paying attention to the message.
WPD has responded to a number of complaints about concerning behavior by students at the CVS store, Linden St., on Friday’s and half-day Wednesday’s after-school. The manager has expressed that some students are using foul language towards staff, as well as, not following the store’s policy for students entering without adult supervision. As a reminder, WPD is asking parents to speak to their children about following the rules of all local businesses when with fellow peers after school.
Have a great weekend everyone.
