Good morning, Wellesley Middle School! \u00a0This is Dr. Ito, principal of our school, and I’d like to welcome everyone back for our 2025-2026 school year. \u00a0It\u2019s great to see all of the good energy in the building, and I’m really excited about starting today. \u00a0I hope you are, too. \u00a0So, welcome back to you all!<\/span><\/p>\n

Today is a Day 1 and the rotation after our extended Advisory will be:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>A, B, C, D, E, F, G<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

I wanted to let you know about our morning routine. \u00a0Doors open at 7:30. Upon entering the building students will lock their smart devices in their Yondr pouches to be stored in backpacks or lockers throughout the school day. This will begin\u00a0<\/span>tomorrow<\/span>\u00a0in Advisory for the first time. Between 7:30 and 7:40, Grade 6 students report to the auditorium, Grade 7 students report to Gym B and Grade 8 students report to Gym A. \u00a0Any student needing breakfast will go directly to the cafeteria. There is no wandering around the hallways, stairwells or classrooms before school without permission. For the first three days, please be in Advisory by 7:45 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

For the first three days only, at 7:45 all students are expected to be in Advisory to start the day and be ready to hear the morning announcements. \u00a0Today, your time in Advisory will be spent educating you about our daily schedule, and going over important school routines. A printout of your school schedules will be handed out to you today, too so you can have both a hard copy and an electronic copy. Morning announcements will be communicated by me\u00a0<\/span>Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Ms. Gordon on Tuesdays, and Mr. Hoffman on Thursdays. \u00a0<\/span>
<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Out of respect for our school, I would appreciate it if everyone would remain silent until the announcements are complete. \u00a0This allows us to get important information out to everyone without confusion throughout the day. \u00a0I want to thank you in advance for your support.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

For today specifically, we’re going to accommodate for a longer Advisory period. \u00a0We’re doing this so that you can get to know your teachers and classmates, and hear important \u201cfirst day\u201d information from your teachers. \u00a0We will also be having grade-level assemblies for all grades to kick off the school year. \u00a0Grade 6 will assemble Period 1, Block A, Grade 7 is Period 2, Block B, and Grade 8 is Period 3, Block C. Students will need to sit with the class they come with to the auditorium. In these assemblies, you will hear about our Smart Device-free policy for this year, as well as how to use a Yondr pouch. Staff, please check our \u201cFirst 3 days\u201d schedule for entering and exiting assemblies. I’ll look forward to seeing you in the auditorium later today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, Grade 6 will have an extended lunch today during our first lunch time from 11:13-11:50 am (extended), Grade 8 will eat second lunch, and Grade 7 will eat third lunch. \u00a0Grades 7 and 8 are our routine 25 minute lunch times.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Attention 8th Graders: \u00a08th graders have been scheduled into the electives they chose in the spring. 8th graders should only seek out their school counselor at this time if there is a scheduling error.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to the changes in the bell schedule for the first three days of school, please pass inside the building only between periods as the doors will not be unlocked during passing times.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

There will be no late buses to Boston or Wellesley this afternoon. All bus riders must take the 2:30 pm bus.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

The library will be closed after school today.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

I want to wish everyone a happy \u201cfirst day\u201d of school. \u00a0I’m so happy you’re in the building. \u00a0Please know that all adults at WMS are here to support you as you start your new school year. I want to wish everyone in our community a successful first day back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
