Dear Families,

During the last 3 weeks I have attended 3 awards ceremonies, graduation at WHS, two 5th grade graduations, and The Completion Ceremony at WMS.  It has been such an honor to share in these milestone moments with students, families, and WPS staff. My mind is still trying to wrap around the reality that  the school year has ended.

This school year would not have been possible without the support of so many. A heartfelt thank you to Friends of Wellesley METCO, Wellesley METCO Parent Council, our 2 METCO School Committee Representatives, Family Friends, and so many others for their time and dedication to the Wellesley METCO Program. I’m excited to see these relationships grow in new ways next year. We anticipate that we’ll have 17 new families joining us next year and I am excited to see the many wonderful things they’ll bring to this community.

This last edition is dedicated to those students moving on to new chapters on their educational journey. One of my personal goals is to be present. My mind tends to race about things on the never ending to do list, and I realize that doing this takes away from the experience in front of me.  Which is why I am trying to use my phone less which can be problematic since my phone also serves as my camera! I thoroughly enjoyed each of the above mentioned events and did not take a single picture of any of them.  Many thanks to Carla Lumley and Dedra Moore for being expert photographers and sharing these pictures with me. One of my new goals for next year is to be present AND take more pictures!

A snapshot of the 5th grade Sprague lunch group beating me yet again at the game Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese Pizza. I don’t think I won a single card game this year.

Summer Office Hours: Please note that due to vacations, the office will be on adjusted hours. We thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility if there is a delay in a response. Carla and I will have out of office responders on our email.

I’ headed away this weekend for a much needed retreat of reading, cooking, sitting around the firepit, and relaxation after the hecticness that the end of the year brings. As I made the grocery list for this trip, I got excited that one of my most favorite summer vegetable sides will be in heavy rotation. It’s so easy and so delicious.

Summer Squash Bake

Ingredients: 1 yellow squash, 1 green squash, 1 pint cherry tomatoes, freshly chopped garlic (as much or little as you like), olive oil, shredded cheddar (as much or little as you like), olive oil, salt.

Directions: Cut the squash into cubes, halve the grape tomatoes, chop garlic, and drizzle with olive oil in a bowl.  Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with salt and top with cheddar cheese. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes and serve.

I hope everyone has a summer filled with your most favorite things and that you’re able to rest, reconnect, and enjoy family and friends.  We’ve got some new things in store for next year that we can’t wait to share with you.  But until then…find joy with the people you love this summer.

Warmly,

Stephanie
