Friends of Wellesley METCO, Inc. is an independent charitable organization dedicated to helping Wellesley’s METCO students make the most of the educational opportunities provided by the METCO program.
FWMI is a diverse, all-volunteer group that comprises parents and educators in the Wellesley community, and parents/caregivers of Boston-resident students.
FWMI seeks donations from area residents, houses of worship and other nonprofits, businesses, educators, and from the Boston community. Funds received are used to:
- Subsidize a broad range of educational support programs, including academic summer programs for elementary students; after-school tutoring in mathematics for elementary and middle-school students; and SAT test preparation for high school students;
- Provide academic achievement awards;
- Award scholarships to METCO graduates and alumni as they pursue a post-secondary education.
