Wellesley Public Schools recognizes the world of computing is becoming increasingly mobile and wants to ensure all of its students are ready for this reality by graduation. For this reason, WPS has WiFi in all classrooms and has implemented learning management systems and digital tools for increased access to curriculum and individualized learning.
Everyone has devices so that teaching, learning, and collaboration can happen at any time. We are committed to providing equity for our students where everyone always has access to the device needed for classes and learning activities.
Students may bring in their device of choice (Mac OS, Windows OS, Linux, or Chrome OS) to use in our mobile learning ecosystem. If a student’s device doesn’t support tools used in a course, there will be temporary loaner laptops to borrow for the class. Software for the curriculum is to be downloaded/installed by the students.
To last 4 full years, the specifications below give you guidelines for bringing in your own device. If a student is not attending WHS for the full 4 years, an older model is acceptable as long as it is functional and has adequate battery life. There will be charging stations available around the school.
