Note from the Production Team
What You See and What You Don’t is inspired by authentic middle school experiences shared by its authors and cast, but the storylines, characters, and events depicted are entirely fictional and not based on real individuals or occurrences.
The play explores the concept of silent struggles – the things that middle school students may be experiencing that others may not recognize. While the play confronts the difficult and often hidden challenges of middle school life, its ultimate message is one of empathy, connection, and the importance of reaching out for support. We encourage families and audience members to use the themes and conflicts presented as a starting point for positive, productive conversations about kindness, identity, and mental well-being.
