Allen Hamrick
Biography
Allen Hamrick is in high demand as a period bassoonist and recorder player. He has played with the Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Baroque, Handel and Haydn, and is a regular member of the Teatro Nuovo festival opera orchestra. He is also a member of La Fiocco, appearing as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared at Bach festivals in Toronto and Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as with many ensembles across the US and Canada. Among his many appearances, he has recorded with La Fiocco, Grand Harmonie, Boston Early Music Festival, Trinity Baroque Orchestra (which was live-streamed on their website), and Boston Baroque, which was aired on the radio in the summer of 2020.
Allen holds music degrees from Indiana University, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and The Juilliard School. He toured nationally and internationally with Juilliard415 under the direction of renowned directors William Christie, Masaaki Suzuki, and Jordi Savall. His teachers and mentors include Dominic Teresi, Robert Mealy, Michael McCraw, and the late Arthur Weisberg.
