Ming Yang
Biography
Ming Yang is a Taiwanese percussionist and educator based in Boston. She specializes in keyboard, classical, contemporary and chamber percussion. Ming received her M.M. in marimba performance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she studied with Nancy Zeltsman and Sam Solomon.
Ming has performed with several different professional orchestras. During her time in Taiwan, she served four years as a percussionist for the Philharmonia Moments Musicaux. As a solo musician, Ming has competed internationally. Notably in 2017, Ming placed 3rd in the Australian Marimba Competition. Ming has participated in several festivals including Keiko Abe Marimba Festival in Japan(2013), Eurocuivres in France(2014), and NanaFormosa Winter Academy in Taiwan(2017). She has performed with leading artists and musicians including Keiko Abe and Isao Nakamura at Eslite Performing Hall in Taipei in 2017.
Ming is passionate about sharing music from her culture, as her roots have always been her artistic drive. She has commissioned several solo marimba pieces based on folk songs from Taiwan, or her own stories from Asian composers. These include: Percubo(2019), Egret (2022), Ocean(2022).
