Brooke Wilcox
Biography
Brooke hails from Santa Cruz, California – where she was awarded the 2014 Artist of Distinction in the Choral/Vocal Program at Cabrillo College. She holds an A.A. with Honors in Music from Cabrillo College, a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Gordon College, and a M.M. in Opera Performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College. She recently completed her Certificate EFP (Estill Figure Proficiency) in Estill Voice Training® and is continuing her education in science-backed voice training and techniques.
Ms. Wilcox has over twenty years of experience teaching voice and piano to a wide range of students with diverse repertoire in both Boston (previously at Wellesley & Needham Public Schools) and NYC where she lived for seven years. She is passionate about teaching healthy vocal technique and production through all genres of music. She believes in helping people find their own true and authentic voice, and strives to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of her students.
She has also performed a variety of repertoire in her professional career, including Soloist in Mahler’s 4th Symphony, Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, and Laurey in Oklahoma! She was also a chorus member with Bronx Opera (The Rivals) and Vocal Productions NYC (Un ballo in maschera) and (L’elisir d’amore). Other favorite roles include Marie (La fille du régiment), Atalanta (Xerxes), Sophie (Werther), Rain (Hair), Go-to-hell Kitty (Chicago) and Glinda (The Wizard of Oz). Sacred Works Include: Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise and Handel’s Messiah. She has held positions as associate conductor & chanter at St. Gregory’s Orthodox Church associate chanter at St. George’s Orthodox Church, in Manhattan and served as music director for several productions including “Baptized,” which premiered at the NY Fringe Festival in 2013.
Brooke is thrilled to be back home in New England, and currently teaches throughout the greater Boston area.
