Biography

Lori Labedz was born in Wichita, Kansas. Inspired by her father, a self
taught rock guitarist, Lori decided to take up the saxophone. As a member
of the prestigious McDonald’s All-American High school jazz band, she
had the experience of working with the late Henry Mancini. Mrs. Labedz
decided to continue her studies at Wichita State University where she
studied with classical virtuoso Jean Lansing. She also studied with jazz
guitarist Craig Owens and is a featured soloist on several of his recordings.
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance, Mrs. Labedz
was awarded a scholarship to pursue her Master’s Degree at the
University of Colorado at Boulder. Lori was able to collaborate with pianist
and musical genius Art Lande. They formed the group "Double Trouble", a
concept project that stretched the boundaries of form and function
contained within the standard jazz repertoire. Labedz also collaborated
with Ron Miles and saxophonist Jack Wright.
Mrs. Labedz is a highly sought after musician in the professional music
scene. She has had the opportunity to perform throughout the United
States and has performed with: Dave Brubeck, Matt Catingub, Eddie
Daniels, Thayer Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Pete Christlieb, Jon
Faddis, George Garzone, Slide Hampton, Henry Mancini, Ed Calle, The
OJ’s, Art Lande, Ron Miles, Bobby Shew, Rick Russell, The Ryles Jazz
Orchestra, Robin Eubanks, Jiggs Whigham, The Worcester Jazz
Orchestra, Boston Players and the Jazz Educator’s Big Band.

College, Franklin Public Schools, Dean College and the Westwood Public
Schools. She has presented clinics on improvisation, jazz interpretation
and saxophone technique. She has also presented clinics at the
