Biography

Paul Tomashefsky – A resident of Shrewsbury, MA since 1993 he received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Berklee College of Music, Boston. Although classically trained early in his playing career, his studies while at Berklee included studies with Trumpeters; Jeff Stout (Buddy Rich Big Band), Mike Metheny and Lou Mucci (Miles Davis / Gil Evans Jazz Orchestra). Paul was the director of the Bentley College Jazz Ensemble in Waltham, MA from 1986 until 1996. He was an instrumental faculty member of the Westborough Public Schools music department (from 1989 through 2020) teaching band, chorus, and general music. Before moving to Central Massachusetts, he taught instrumental music in the East Boston, Newton, Malden, Duxbury, Wellesley, and Dedham public school systems. As a performer, he is a recognized “Yamaha” Trumpet Artist since 1988, and is currently active as a free-lance performer with such local groups as The Fantasy Big Band, Mid- Town Horns, The Sultan’s of Swing (wedding Band) Dan Fontaine’s Viva Las Vegas ELVIS Elvis Presley tribute band, and the Double Take Jazz Combo. Past performances and recording credits include: Jordan Valentine & the Sunday Saints, a Decade of Soul, Quintessential Brass, Bobby Rydell, The Four Tops, Jacques D’Amboise and the National Dance Institute, Harvard University’s (Hasty Pudding Theatrical Society, and his own Spectrum Jazz Quintet.
