Dear P.A.W.S. Community,

Just sending a reminder that there is No School on Friday, April 14, 2017 and next week is the School April Vacation Week. P.A.W.S. will be closed from April 17 to 21. We will return to school on Monday, April 26 and look forward to seeing you then!

Congratulations to our wonderful Auction Committee for conducting a lovely and successful event on April 1! Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and supported the event! We certainly appreciate the hours and hours of work that our auction committee members volunteered in order to create the remarkable P.A.W.S. Auction!

We continue with our theme of appreciation and thank our parents for partnering with us in so many ways that help us bring the best, high-quality, early childhood experiences to our students. We hope you’ll join us in saying thank you to the many outstanding people who make P.A.W.S. exceptional – our faculty and staff! Although you don’t need an invitation or a special day to say thank you, there are some special days of recognition coming up and you are invited to reach out, to show how much you appreciate the people who give of themselves to our children every day – helping each to thrive, learn, and grow!

  • Wednesday, April 26, 2017 – Administrative Assistant’s Day

    • Please be sure to stop by the front desk to say hello to your wonderful school secretary, Isabel Cashman to thank her for all of the behind the scenes work that she does keeping our school running smoothly!

  • Saturday, May 6, 2017 – Nurse Appreciation Day

    • As this falls on a Saturday this year, please feel free to share your appreciation of Nurse Ann Farrell on Friday, May 5 or Monday, May 8!

  • May 8 – 12 – Teacher and School Staff Appreciation Week

To celebrate Teacher’s Appreciation Week, we invite P.A.W.S. families to honor their teachers and staff by participating in the following activities. Each day there will be a fun and easy way for your child to say thank you to their teacher. Pick one day or do all five – we know our teachers and staff deserve it, and the children will have such fun participating!

Daily Activities To Show Our Appreciation for Our P.A.W.S. Teachers and Staff

Monday: Sidewalk Chalk Day

    • Plan to come to school 10-15 minutes early or plan to stay after for a little bit. The children are invited to bring sidewalk chalk to decorate and write messages in chalk on the sidewalk into PAWS – welcoming the teachers to school with their good wishes, happy pictures, and big thank yous and colorful drawings! Parents are welcome to help their children and supervise their children in decorating the PAWS front and side, sidewalks before or after school. Chalk will be available at Fiske and Hunnewell locations, too!

Tuesday: Sweet Treat Day

    • Bring a treat for the teachers to share in the teacher’s room. Perhaps you’ll pick a box of Joe to go, or bring some fresh fruit or mixed nuts (no peanuts), cookies or candy – that would be dandy!

Wednesday: Heartfelt Note Day

    • All families are invited to send a note of thanks to their child’s teachers -either via email, hand written or any way you’d like to share your appreciation. A heartfelt note is one of the greatest and most meaningful gifts a teacher can get.

Thursday: Bring a Flower

    • The children are invited to bring a flower to school for their teacher – it could be a dandelion or tulip from your yard. You could pick a blossoming tree branch or forsythia sprig or you could bring a bouquet from the store or a picture of a flower your child drew! All of the flowers will be collected in the teacher’s room and then (with the help of parent volunteers) will be divided up into small bouquets that will be given to the teachers and staff to take home!

Friday: Draw a Picture Day

    • The children are invited to create a picture to give to their teacher! They can draw with crayons or markers, paint or add stickers to make a special picture their teacher will treasure!

I’m sure you can think of many other creative ways to show your appreciation! Have fun talking to your child about the plans to show appreciation of their teachers and encourage your child to help you execute the plan!

Wishing you all a happy April vacation week! I hope you make time to rest, relax, and enjoy being together, with outdoor play and spending time in nature, and simply sharing special moments together enjoying good books!

Sincerely,

‘Becca Z.
