Dear PAWS Families,

Reminder:
Tuesday, March 31, 2015 PAWS students will dismiss at 11:40 AM.  There is no PM session of PAWS preschool due to the parent/teacher conference schedule.

As we head into the spring season, I am sending a few reminders to our PAWS community from our PAWS faculty.  Kindly pass these important messages along to any of the adults who are responsible for bringing your child to and from school. We thank you in advance for your attention to these important reminders.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders:

Cell Phone Use: Please be fully present when dropping off or picking up your preschooler.  Kindly reserve your cell phone use for the times when your child is not with you. We ask for your full and complete attention to your child during the few moments you are at PAWS at arrival and at dismissal times.

Talking About Your Child: Partnering with you, the parents and guardians of our students, is one of the most important aspects of our work.  We want to hear from you, we want to support your work with your child and we want to be sure we are doing this at a time and place separate from your child.

Respectfully we request that you save personal conversations about your child to appropriate times and spaces. Please do not talk about your concerns and worries to the classroom teacher in front of your child at drop off or pick-up time.  These are a special times of transition;  times when staff are working to ensure that every child has a successful, positive transition into or out of class. Please save hot topic conversations for times when children are not present.

Please do let your child’s teacher know you have something important to share and that you will be leaving a voicemail or an email with information.  Please request for a phone call or meeting to discuss your concerns as we look forward to supporting you and your child at the appropriate times and places.

Parking Lot: Please drive with care as you enter the PAWS parking lot. Please pull in slowly and exit slowly to ensure the safety of all. Thank you.

Please refrain from using the handicap parking spots and the auction winner parking spots unless you have a legitimate need and/or right to use these spaces.

Car Seats: Please be sure to properly secure your child in an appropriate, approved car seat or booster seat.  Parents: please be sure to double check with your child care providers as well as with your friends who provide carpool rides to your children to ensure they know exactly how to safely buckle your child into their car seat or booster seat.

Child Safety: Please do not leave any child unattended in a car in the parking lot for any reason.  If you have an extenuating circumstance and need assistance with a child in the car at arrival or dismissal, please call the school office and we will do our best to send a staff member out to assist you.

Be On Time for School: Being on time for school helps children feel connected to the group at the start of class.  Likewise, please do your best to pick-up your child on time.  On the occasions when you feel you might be late, please call the school office to let us know.

PTO Thank you:
Thank you to the PAWS PTO for the very successful school auction! The funds raised will help bring extra special materials, supplies and programing to the children at PAWS!

PAWS Parents, thank you for your attention to:

1.Being present for your child at arrival and dismissal by not using your cell phone during those transition times.
2.Protecting your child by saving personal conversations about your child to specially planned phone calls, emails or meetings with the teacher.
3.Driving slowly into and out of the PAWS parking lot.
4.Ensuring all PAWS students are secured in car seats or booster seats before driving away.
5. Bringing all children, infants and toddlers into the building and never leaving any child unattended in a car.
6.Being punctual for arrival and dismissal each day.  Please call if you are going to be late.

Thank you for your help in keeping all children healthy, happy and thriving!  We look forward to seeing you in the days ahead.  As always, please feel free to call or email with any questions.

Sincerely,
‘Becca Z.
