“When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.” —The 14th Dalai Lama (1935) Dear P.A.W.S. Families, World Kindness Day was this week on November 13, 2014. The P.A.W.S staff, students and families have recently demonstrated an outpouring of kindness through their participation in the Wellesley Cradles to Crayons Drive at P.A.W.S. preschool as well as the Candy Drive for the Troops. It was wonderful to see bags and bags of donated items arrive at the preschool! Thank you to all who donated! A very special thank you to the P.A.W.S. PTO and to PTO President, Farrell Crowely, for organizing the Cradles to Crayons Drive for us. Here is a message from Farrell about the drive: Thank you all for participating in the Wellesley Cradles to Crayons Drive and Sorting Day; this year’s drive was our most successful drive yet. 1,134 children in the Massachusetts area will be positively impacted thanks to your donations. Wellesley continues to be the biggest community drive for Cradles to Crayons; local organizations like Wellesley Friendly Aid benefit from this support. 12 Schools in Wellesley participated in the collection and sorting; as well as, The Wellesley Mother’s Forum and NCL. Participating Schools: Wellesley Highschool Wellesley Middle School Bates Fiske Hunnewell Hardy Schofield Sprague Upham PAWS Dana Hall Ten Acre Thank you all for your continued support. As the temperature continues to drop, remember there is always a permanent drop off location at Babson behind the Reynold’s College Center (Lock Code 1984). A very special thank you to all of the parent volunteers who took home the bags of plastic balls from the ball pit, to clean, dry and return! Thank you to Ceida Chan for organizing this monthly event! We all appreciate your effort, support and help with an important but tedious task! Thank you for providing opportunities for your child to demonstrate acts of kindness with family and friends and for continuing to model acts of kindness by what you say and do. “Those who make compassion an essential part of their lives find the joy of life. Kindness deepens the spirit and produces rewards that cannot be completely explained in words. It is an experience more powerful than words. To become acquainted with kindness one must be prepared to learn new things and feel new feelings. Kindness is more than a philosophy of the mind. It is a philosophy of the spirit. “—Robert J. Furey Have a wonderful weekend! Sincerely, ‘Becca Z. Director of Early Childhood
