Dear P.A.W.S. Families,

Sending you and yours wishes for a very happy, joy filled Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Attached are a few notes about some special events coming up at P.A.W.S.!

Family Traditions

We love to have parents and family members come to P.A.W.S. to share family traditions in the classrooms!  As each family shares their special and meaningful songs, stories, traditions, and activities, each child’s learning experience is enriched and enhanced.  There is so much thoughtfulness, love, and care shared during these special class presentations and the lessons taught, make lasting impressions. Next in this newsletter, you will read about an exciting opportunity for YOU to come and share some of your special family traditions at our Night of Sharing Family Traditions and favorite Holiday Foods and Desserts, on December 6th!

We encourage you to join us at this annual event! Please take an opportunity to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher to arrange for a time to share in your child’s classroom as well!

Save the Date! December 6 – Family Traditions Food and Dessert Night at P.A.W.S.

Two years ago we started a new P.A.W.S. Tradition – our Night of Sharing Family Traditions and favorite Desserts! It was so well attended, and delicious, we are eagerly looking forward to the event again this year, on December 6th at P.A.W.S., from 6:00 pm until 7:30pm!  Last year a family’s grandmother was visiting from South America.  She brought a tray of homemade empanadas that were so enjoyed, that it was  decided we would invite families to share any traditional foods (that are nut free) during our Winter Traditions Night.. All families are invited and we hope you’ll bring a favorite appetizer, finger-food, or family dessert to share.  Click HERE to fill in the information about what you will bring.

Winter Traditions EVITE and RSVP

Click HERE for the Evite and RSVP and let us know how many people from your family will attend the event and what traditional appetizer, finger-food, or dessert or you are planning to bring, and what tradition it represents. Please remember all food must be nut free.

Children are invited to come in their pajamas or come as they are.  We will have some crafts to do and we will be showing the movie, A Snowy Day based on the book by Ezra Jack Keats. If you would like to help with set-up, clean-up, or by providing some needed supplies, for the event, please click on the Sign-up Genius HERE.

P.A.W.S. CARES TEAM

At this time of year, we often gather together and give thanks for all that we have and we are also reminded to think of those who are working hard and yet may be struggling to make ends meet.  Sometimes, a little loving assistance from friends can help make a difference. The P.A.W.S. Cares Team works together helping those who are in need in our school community. If you need, or would like to provide, a Helping Hand, please fill out the attached form or send an email to the PAWSOffice@wellesleyps.org and we will gladly assist you. Thank you in advance for your caring and support!

Being Kind and Caring

The children learn about being kind and caring in school as a part of the Second Step Social Emotional Curriculum. In many classrooms, the children earn little paper hearts that they collect as a class, and then host a celebration together after having earned a certain number of hearts.  A colleague shared THIS article with me about kindness and children. As we head into the season of gratitude and thanksgiving, I thought I would share it with you, with the thought that it might inspire kind and caring conversations with family members as you think about looking for and learning about, What did you do that was kind today?

Tea With ‘Becca – December 12

Join us for a discussion around Chapter 2 of the book club How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen.  Please RSVP to Tea with ‘Becca,  HERE.   You might enjoy a Podcast LINK of the two authors of the book prior to joining us at the next Tea .

We have a few more copies of the book available to share, made available by a generous grant from the Wellesley Education Foundation (WEF).  Let us know if you’d like a copy! We’ll send it home for you in backpack mail with your child.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving. May it be a time of peace, and sweet moments, of joy, gratitude, and connection for you and your family.

Sincerely,

‘Becca Z.
