Dear PAWS Families,
Happy First Day of Fall! As we get excited for the autumnal equinox and crisp, cool weather, please be sure to dress your child in layers. A light jacket to wear on the playground in the cool morning air may be replaced with short sleeves by mid-day.
Reminders:
Back to School Nights will be remote this year via Zoom. Your child’s teacher will be sending you a Zoom Link to join her in learning about your child’s classroom, school day, and the activities they get to enjoy each day.
Wednesday, September 22, 2021 – 6:30pm – PK8 Families will Zoom in with Cora for her Back to School Night
Thursday, September 30, 2021 – 6:30pm – PAWS Families will Zoom in with their teachers for Back to School Night for PAWS classrooms PK1, PK2, PK3, PK4, PK5, PK6, PK7, PK9
Car Line:
Thank you to all of the parents who have been patiently waiting in the car line. The children are becoming more comfortable with the routine and the car line is moving along more quickly and efficiently.
I am sorry to say, we did have an incident in the car line last week where one parent was reported to have spoken quite harshly and rudely to another parent with their child present. Please try your best to practice grace and use a tone and approach that you would want someone else to use with you and your child.
Please take a few moments to watch this short video clip about staying low on the Ladder of Inference while trying not to jump to conclusions when in the car line, or any time. The family that was yelled at was very upset. They had to pick up their child from school early and did not “cut the line” to be tricky or troublesome, but due to a family necessity of which the PAWS staff were aware. Please be courteous to each other at all times, and especially in front of the children.
Thank you!
Thank you to the PAWS PTO for organizing the Staff Snack Sign-up LINK.
Thank you to the Williams Family for sendinging in seltzer and salty snacks today! The gluten free chips were appreciated greatly by some staff and the flavored pretzels were enjoyed by others! It was all a very welcome treat! The faculty and staff really appreciate your kindness.
Spirit Days – September 30 and October 1 – Wear Something RED to School
Each month the children and staff are invited to participate in a “Spirit Day” where we celebrate a special color each month. We will celebrate our Spirited Color Days on the last Thursday and Friday of each month. This month we will celebrate the color RED! If your child comes to school on Thursday and Friday, they can participate by wearing red on both days if they want to, or opting to participate just on Friday.
Please help your child to pick out something to wear that is red or has RED on it. If your child doesn’t have something red to wear, don’t worry! When they get to school their teacher can help them to make a red crown to wear, or a red badge to wear. We hope the children will have fun noticing all of the different shades, hues, and tones of RED and will have fun looking for other RED items in their surroundings, too. We welcome you to send in a photo of your child with something red, too!
School Picture Days
October 4 and 5 will be the School Picture Days! We will send a picture day schedule to families next week. We are looking for a couple of parent volunteers to help with the School Picture Days
Can You Help?
We had a Little Tikes, little red wagon and it seems to have sadly and unexpectedly disappeared from our playground. The children like to give each other rides in the wagons and our OT and PT staff use the wagons during their therapy sessions with some students. If you or someone you know has a gently used child’s wagon that you no longer need or use, please let me know. If you are in a position to be able to buy a new wagon for PAWS, that would be wonderful. HERE & HERE are links for the types of wagons that we could use. Please let me know if you can help. Thank you!
Looking for Pumpkins:
Pick a Pumpkin for PAWS! If you happen to be out at an orchard or pumpkin patch, we would love to have a few pumpkins to decorate our front walkway at PAWS. If you would like to donate a pumpkin – large or small, orange, white, smooth or bumpy, please send them into school next week.
Thank you for your support and positive contributions to our school year!
Best,
‘Becca Z.
