The PAWS Tie-Dye Tradition
The students at PAWS come from every corner of Wellesley, and they will eventually be going to different elementary schools across town. Each elementary school has special school colors. At PAWS, we create tie-dyed shirts that represent all of the school colors across all of the Wellesley schools since our students represent all of the neighborhood schools. When our preschoolers wear their tie-dyed shirt from PAWS, they represent being a part of the PAWS community and a part of the larger Wellesley community.
This week, each student was able to tie-dye a t-shirt, to wear for our last day of school celebration on Thursday, June 15th. Thank you to the PAWS PTO for funding our Tie-Dye Days this week and supplying the dye, and some of the t-shirts for us!
Isabel and I have been rinsing and washing all of the children’s tie-dye shirts this weekend and will have them all dried and folded, and ready for the children to bring home on Monday or Tuesday. They are invited to wear their special shirt on their last day of school (Wednesday for some students and Thursday for everyone else).
A note from Nurse Sue and Children’s Hospital:
Learn how to keep your family safe while at the pool, beach, and more.
Join us on June 15, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. via YouTube Live, to hear from our experts about all things related to water safety. We’ll be covering best practices for when your family is at the pool, how to keep an active eye on your kids when swimming, and more. This event is free and open to the public.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten End of Year Update
110 preschoolers and their families have read 8,910 books since the November 21, 2022 launch of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at PAWS! Thank you to our families for partnering with us to read to your children and build a love of literature and learning.
We extend a huge thank you to approximately 40 phenomenal Wellesley High School students who over the course of several months volunteered just under 150 volunteer hours to help support the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program at PAWS swapping out 891 book bags! We look forward to continuing the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program at PAWS in September and look forward to partnering with students from the high school again!
As we head into our last week of school, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our PAWS families who have contributed to the positive and successful 2022-2023 school year! It has been an honor to be a special part of your child’s educational start and foundation!
We extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to the PAWS faculty and staff who have worked tirelessly with joy, care, and skill to provide thoughtful, fun and meaningful learning experiences for our students all year long!
We would like to offer an extra special thank you to our PAWS PTO Board, Lexi Hall, Ceida Chan, Lorraine Pocon Ramos, Sukh Bajwa, and Shikha Warnick and to our room parents! We are grateful for your leadership and for the many hours of planning and volunteering you provided in order to support the teachers, staff, students, and families at PAWS this year!
We are looking forward to a fun last week of school!
Sincerely,
‘Becca Z.
