Dear PAWS Families,
We are watching the weather forecast for the next few days and wonder what the weather will be like on Thursday and Friday this week. It looks like we could be getting some snow, but then again, the storm could move in another direction and we may not end up with much snow at all. We are working to take steps to be proactive and make a plan, just in case we end up not being able to come into school in person due to the weather.
Some of you may recall that earlier this year the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) gave districts the green light to make a snow day into a remote learning day in lieu of snow days that have to be made up in June. As such, PAWS would be following the same plan as the rest of the Wellesley Public School district in that, if a “Snow Day” is called, we would be holding a Remote Learning Day, much like classes we had at the start of the school year in September.
Your classroom teacher may send home some materials or supplies to use on Thursday and/or Friday if the storm brings lots and lots of snow and we end up being out for two days. If your child receives therapy on Thursday and Friday as a part of their regular weekly schedule, you will hear from your child’s therapist about the time of their session along with a zoom link to join them.
As with any situation, we understand that you must make decisions to best support your family’s needs, and your child’s health, safety and well being. That always comes first. If you are not able to assist your preschooler in attending school via the Remote Learning platform, for any reason, please reach out to your child’s teacher to let her know. If you can join the class zoom for some lessons and activities, please join in when you can and during times that will best serve your child. All 3, 4 and 5 year olds learn in different ways, and participating on Zoom may not be easy or successful for some children. We understand this and will all do the best we can.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher, therapists or me. Please stay safe and warm if we end up having a snowy day!
Best,
‘Becca Z.
