Dear Bates Families,
I am excited to announce that Maureen Herzig is our new secretary. Mrs. Herzig moved with her family to the area from Connecticut this summer. She brings many years of experience working in the public schools in CT, and I am confident she will make an excellent addition to the Bates School. Thank you for your help in welcoming Maureen to our community.
Some of you may be aware that a comprehensive building security package for the Wellesley Public Schools is going before the Special Town Meeting that is currently in session. Proposed security measures include door hardware/locks, cameras, proximity cards, radios, additional AiPhones and public address system upgrades. Bates and seven other schools will benefit from this project. If the plan is approved at the Special Town Meeting, the bulk of the construction will take place in summer 2016.
The safety of our students is always a priority at Bates. Some of our ongoing practices include the looking of doors during school hours and requiring visitors to enter through the front door. In addition, the faculty and staff have been trained to respond to any potential crisis. I will be happy to discuss our current safety measures and any of your questions or concerns at the next PTO meeting on
