Dear Bates families,
The snow has melted and Bates in Bloom is around the corner! We hope you’ll be able to join us for a short visit to your child’s classroom between 8:45 and 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 9. If you are not able to join us on Thursday, please let your child’s teacher know. We will try to arrange for a Bates adult to be there to admire your child’s hard work. You can also request to see your child’s work at home or to visit on another morning that’s convenient for you. Next Wednesday, March 8 at 5 p.m. you will receive a link to sign up for a spring parent teacher conference. Conferences will begin in late March.
I am excited to share that I have seen a significant increase in on time arrivals each morning, so thank you for making the extra effort to make that a priority. An important part of on time arrival for our students is a safe and efficient morning car line. I ask that you take a minute to review the following procedures and make sure that all caregivers who use the car line are aware of these as well:
- The car line is a moving car line. Drivers may not get out of the car to unload a child or other items. Children must get out of the car independently with all of their gear on the passenger side of the car. This precaution is for the safety of all children and adults.
- Cars may not enter the front circle with a left hand turn from Elmwood Road. Cars should enter the car line from Westgate Road and if necessary, approach Westgate from Pilgrim Road. Cars should not make a u-turn at the intersection of Westgate and Elmwood Road.
- When exiting the car line, please take a right on Elmwood Road. Turning left slows traffic behind you and impacts the on time arrival for other students.
