Dear Bates,

Thank you to those who were able to come to our Back to School Night on Thursday.  It was great to see you, and we hope the evening was informative.  If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child’s teacher to receive the information shared.

Bates enjoyed our first all school Community Meeting on Wednesday.  Our whole community sat together in a big circle together in the gym, sang the Bates Song and the Belong Song, shared a book about kindness and cheered for Tux, our mascot.  Our students are working hard to demonstrate the 3Bs at Bates, and we love to recognize their efforts at Community Meeting.

Bates School Council

The Bates School Council is looking for one more parent representative.  You can read more about the School Council here.  Please reach out to me at jolleya@wellesleyps.org if you have any questions or would like to serve on the School Council.

Parking on Westgate

The Bates carline extends down Elmwood Rd. and onto Westgate Rd.  For safety reasons, we ask that during arrival and dismissal cars avoid parking on the northwest side of Westgate Road, between Elmwood and the Boulder Brook Reservation.  Please share this information with any caregiver who drives to school.  This area is noted on the map below.

Reminder: September 26 – A Conversation with School Committee Members

Bates parents and caregivers are invited to meet with two members of the School Committee on Thursday, September 26 from 9-10 a.m. on Zoom. This will be an informal discussion regarding current Committee activities as well as an opportunity for Q&A. I will also be in attendance, as will the Superintendent.

In addition to supporting the core values, vision and mission of the Wellesley Public Schools, the Committee’s responsibilities are to develop and manage school policies; support the allocation of resources by overseeing budget & facilities; hire and review the superintendent of schools; and advocate for the school district.
