Dear Bates Families,
It was an exciting week at Bates with two snow days and lots of outdoor play in the snow! In addition, we are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Book Fair next week and Day of Play on March 11. Thank you to all who are able to volunteer to support these special and much-loved events at Bates.
The Bates Book Fair is Next Week!
This afternoon the Bates library will begin a magical transformation into the Bates Book Fair, thanks to our PTO volunteers! As a reminder, we support all students to purchase a book at the Book Fair. If you would like assistance, please email me directly at
jolleya@wellesleyps.org. A few reminders:
- Learn all about the book fair on our Book Fair homepage
- Set up an eWallet for easy purchasing
- Visit the fair during your child’s library class, from 8:00 – 8:30 am on Thursday and Friday and on Wednesday evening, 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
- Contribute to Share the Fair, which supports classroom purchases
We look forward to this special event and the joy of putting great books in the hands of our students!
The Day of Play on Wednesday, March 11
This week and next, students will continue to imagine and plan for the Day of Play. They are learning about the diversity of inventors and creators, discussing and sketching plans and of course, excitedly collecting materials! Thank you for helping to collect cardboard and other materials at home, such as:
- small or medium boxes
- cardboard egg cartons and paper towel tubes
- cardboard packaging & other clean recyclable materials
- upcycled materials (small items that are no longer in use that may be repurposed)
Materials can be brought into school starting on Monday, March 9, preferably in a brown paper bag. Finally, many volunteers are needed to make the Day of Play a success. If you are able to help for an hour or more, please sign up using this link:
As always, thank you for everything you do to make Bates such a special place. We are grateful for our supportive community! Have a wonderful weekend!
Best regards,
Toni
