Dear Bates Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are enjoying the warm spring-like weather today. Below are a few updates from the Bates School.
Health and Safety
I know families are concerned about the health and safety of their children with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. We at Bates are continuing to teach and reinforce good hygiene, particularly hand washing. Time has been allotted to give all students time to wash their hands prior to snack and lunch. We also have hand sanitizer available to students throughout the school. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Spring Conference Sign Ups
Spring Parent Teacher conferences will begin at the end of March. As a reminder Tuesday, March 31 is an early release day for conferences. I will send the conference sign up links via email tomorrow at noon. Please feel free to contact the Bates office if you have questions about the sign up process.
MCAS
In a few weeks MCAS testing will begin for grades 3-5. Below is the testing schedule.
Grade 3
April 14 & 16 – ELA MCAS
May 11 & 12 – Math MCAS
Grade 4
April 6 & 7 – ELA MCAS
May 7 & 8 – Math MCAS
Grade 5
April 2 & 3 – ELA MCAS
May 4 & 5 – Math MCAS
May 14 & 15 – Science, Technology and Engineering MCAS

Finally, I invite all families to join me for the next Principal Coffee on Thursday, March 26 at 9:00in the library. The PTO meeting will follow at 9:30.
