Dear HunneBates,
It has been an exciting week at HunneBates! Last week the new Gaga Ball pit arrived, a gift from the Bates PTO. It has been a huge hit during recess as students of all ages eagerly line up for a turn playing Gaga Ball. Thank you to our generous PTO for this awesome new addition to our school.
This week we enjoyed a special assembly on Wednesday presented by the Boston Bruins Foundation and B-Fit Team. They shared important messages about health, wellness, kindness and determination. There were squats, push ups and burpees and an exciting teacher v. student hockey shootout with Bruins mascot Blades in the goal. A big thank you to Bates parent Andrew Raycroft and his colleagues on the B-Fit Team for this inspirational and super fun event.
Next Week
Looking ahead to next week, we are hoping for good weather for our second attempt at Field Day on Monday. Please note only cold lunch options will be available on Monday.
Very importantly, our last week of school includes a full day of school on Wednesday and a half day of school on Thursday, our last day. We hope you will consider joining us for the special all school tradition of the Clap Out on Thursday, June 15. The clap out begins with our fifth graders forming a line to walk through the halls of the school, where every student and staff member will line the halls and clap enthusiastically. As the fifth graders make their final exit through the front doors at 12 pm, families and friends are asked to line the front sidewalk and greet them with even more clapping. It’s our favorite final send off for our fifth graders.
The final days of the school year are here. My email next week will share some important updates for next year. Until then, enjoy the weekend!
Warmly,
Toni Jolley
