Dear Bates,

With the rain this week I’d like to share our practice for indicating an indoor arrival.  In the event of inclement weather during arrival at Bates, we post an orange flag near the bus loop in front and on the back playground.  The flag indicates that students should enter the school through the front door and proceed to either the gym for grades K-2 or to the cafeteria for grades 3-5.  In addition, please anticipate that more families may  choose to use the car line, so we advise that you plan accordingly for an on time arrival.

We ask that families be aware of our new practice for late arrivals.  Students arriving after 8:30 must be escorted by an adult to the front door.  If you know in advance that your child will arrive late to school, please enter this information in Pickup Patrol and indicate your child’s lunch order or let us know if they are bringing lunch from home.  Thank you very much for your help with these procedures.

Tux our mascot has had an exciting week traveling to the first of many destinations.  Students were challenged to guess where he was from the different clues shared each day.  Feel free to ask your child where Tux is and what we learned about that country this week.  We will continue to accept submissions if your child or family would like to share one at any time.  Thank you to all who have participated so far!

With the short week next week, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish our community a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  As a reminder, due to the Professional Day on December 2 school resumes on Tuesday, December 3.

Warmly,

Toni Jolley
