Dear Bates Families,
We enjoyed our first Community Meeting this week, with our whole Bates community coming together in the gym for songs, sharing, and celebration. I read The Magical Yet by Angela DiTerlizzi, a special picture book that celebrates the power of “yet,” reminding students that we all have things we haven’t learned yet! Finally, Tux, our mascot, came to visit to celebrate our amazing Bates students!
We greatly appreciate our partnership with parents in supporting the safety and well-being of our students. I ask for your help with a few practices that ensure a safe and orderly environment at Bates:
- Bikes and scooters: Students who bike or scooter to or from school are asked to walk them while on school property, stick to the sidewalks, and avoid the parking lot.
- Personal items: Toys and smartwatches are best left at home. If brought to school, these items must remain inside a child’s backpack during the school day.
- Late arrivals: If your child arrives after 8:30 a.m., an adult must walk them to the front door.
- Parking & Arrival: Families parking near Bates are asked to avoid parking along Westgate, which is reserved for our moving carline.
Thank you for your support. I hope you stay safe and dry this weekend!
Warmly,
Toni Jolley
