Dear Hunnewell Families,
I am excited to share that Hunnewell School will be hosting a special event on Monday, March 10, at 8:45 AM to kick off The Bionic Project, a powerful initiative focused on disability awareness, empathy-building, and inclusion through education and sports. We invite all families to join us for this inspiring assembly, where students will meet elite adaptive athletes and experienced educators who are dedicated to breaking down barriers and fostering authentic connections.
The Bionic Project brings a customized, interactive program to schools, allowing students to engage in hands-on experiences that reshape their perspectives on physical disabilities and inclusion. Throughout the day, our students will:
- Learn about physical disabilities in an open, engaging way.
- Ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of adaptive sports and lifestyles.
- Play and interact with elite adaptive athletes.
- Build authentic connections that help reduce bias and promote inclusivity.
This initiative is designed to empower students with greater understanding, empathy, and appreciation for all abilities. By experiencing these activities firsthand, they will develop a more inclusive mindset that extends beyond the classroom and into their daily lives.
We look forward to welcoming The Bionic Project to our school and hope you will join us at 8:45 AM on Monday, March 10, to experience the kickoff assembly alongside your children. Your presence and support will help reinforce the importance of fostering a school community where everyone belongs and is valued.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
Dare to Dream,
Mr. Dees
