Dear Hunnewell Families,

As we enter the final months of the school year, we are continually inspired by our students’ strength and adaptability. One of the most important skills we can nurture in children is resilience—the ability to bounce back from challenges, adapt to change, and keep moving forward with confidence.

Here are a few simple ways you can help build resilience at home:

  • Encourage problem-solving: When your child faces a challenge, resist the urge to fix it immediately. Instead, ask questions that guide them toward finding their solution.
  • Normalize mistakes: Help your child understand that mistakes are a natural and valuable part of learning.
  • Promote positive self-talk: Teach your child to notice negative thoughts and reframe them with a more encouraging, hopeful message.
  • Establish routines: Predictable daily routines help children feel safe and in control, especially during uncertain times.
  • Model resilience: Let your child see how you handle setbacks with perseverance and a calm attitude.

Building resilience not only supports academic success but it also helps children navigate friendships, cope with disappointment, and face new situations with courage.

As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday, March 31, in honor of Eid al-Fitr, marking one of several school holidays this academic year in recognition of religious and cultural observances. Many families in our community observe Eid al-Fitr, one of Islam’s two canonical festivals. It marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.
