Dear Hunnewell Families,

I’m delighted to report that it’s been an incredible start at Hunnewell! The enthusiasm from both students and staff has been contagious, and it’s clear that we’re in for a year full of growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences. As with any great adventure, there are bound to be ups and downs along the way. But it’s these very moments that make the journey worthwhile. I want to share some of the “ups” that have already brightened our days:

  • Charlie Gu was so excited about starting kindergarten that he wanted to arm wrestle with Dr. Lussier! While we didn’t get to see the match, I’m confident that Charlie’s enthusiasm would have given Dr. Lussier a real challenge.
  • Poppy Maher, one of our talented fifth graders in Mrs. Eccher’s class, treated her fellow students to a surprise performance, showcasing her outstanding opera voice. Her talent left everyone in awe. Way to go, Poppy!

Of course, no adventure is without its challenges. We’ve had a few hiccups, like a couple of students being placed on the wrong bus, some lost lunches, and a few car line glitches. Rest assured, we’ve made the necessary corrections, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to fine-tune our processes. What truly matters, though, is that as I walk through the building and visit classrooms, I see excited, engaged, and smiling students. That, to me, is always a win and a reminder of why we do what we do. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding. Together, we’ll navigate this adventure, celebrating the highs and overcoming the lows.

Dare to Dream,

Mr. Dees

THE LAYBY IS THE ONLY DESIGNATED LIVE DROP-OFF ZONE! Make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle promptly! If you need to park your car, see below.

  • There are six spaces in the layby. Pull ahead as far as you can to make room for cars in line behind you.
  • Pull your car thoroughly to the curb before discharging passengers.
  • Drivers MUST STAY in their cars to keep the traffic flow moving.
  • Children exit from the curbside of the car ONLY.
  • Pulling around a car that is unloading students is prohibited!
  • Once all students from these six cars have disembarked, these cars will be dismissed.
  • The cars on hold between the circular driveway will be directed to enter the layby. This process will continue until all car drop-offs are completed.

Once students have exited the vehicle, they will be directed to walk toward the front door. They will then take a left and walk along the front of the building, inside the granite bollards, to the blacktop adjacent to the gym on the south side of the building.
