Hello Hunnewell,

I apologize for the Friday Newsletter on Saturday morning. When things begin to get stressful or if one needs a little break, it is highly advisable to march down to the kindergarten rooms and hang out for a few minutes. Why? Innocence, smiles (all the time), laughter, and, most importantly…authentic talk. For example, my good friend Aiden Zhong (KM) walked with me and said, “Mr. Dees! This place is nuts! And…I am having a blast!” Hearing a 5-year-old tell you, “This place is nuts, and I am having a blast,” will put you on the right track, no matter what’s going on! You might be wondering what my reply was. “Aiden! You are correct! This place is nuts, and we are having a blast, and it’s probably the principal’s fault!” Aiden quickly retorted, “Yes, but wait, you are the principal!” If you need a great “reset,” you might want to think about the best medicine in the world…hang out with 5-year-old children. It’s nuts, and it’s a blast!

Dare to Dream,

Mr. Dees

WALK TO SCHOOL October 9

This Wednesday, October 9, is International Walk, Ride & Roll Day! Students and adults around the world will be reducing emissions by ditching their cars and walking or biking to school or work. Connect with neighbors and friends to bike together or set up a walking school bus. If you live too far to walk the entire way, consider driving part way and walking the final 15 minutes.

With e-bikes growing in popularity, the Town of Wellesley has put together guidance for e-bike riders on safe and responsible riding. Finally, we extend a big THANK YOU to the students who do their part every day by taking the bus!

Support The PTO Annual Appeal

Our Annual Appeal Participation Challenge is in full swing! We are currently at 31% participation and well on our way to clinching a Hunnewell Spirit Day! 20 more donations are needed to reach this first milestone!

But we can’t stop there! Help us reach our overall goal of 85% participation and give our kids what is sure to be an unforgettable Silly Principal Day!

The suggested donation amount is $125 per student, though every donation, no matter the amount, counts and makes a difference! Click here to see how your dollars are put to work.

Donate here today! Or mail a check to the Hunnewell PTO.

Thank you for your amazing support!

SPOOOKY Hunnewel Halloween Parade

Thursday, October 31, is Halloween. Please join us! We will begin our trek around the Hunnewell school at 8:45 AM and end approximately at 9:15 AM. To make the trek around the school safely, the K-2 students will line up near the soccer field (in the back) and move counterclockwise. The 3-5 students will line up in front of the school and walk counterclockwise. Parents can line up along the access road around Hunnewell and clap for everyone. For families that do not want their children to participate, we will have other activities in the library with Mrs. Scott. Costumes cannot include guns, swords, or other weapons.

Please join us for the SPOOOOOKY HUNNEWELL HALLOWEEN PARADE!
