Dear Hunnewell Parents,

In our quest to raise successful children, it’s easy to focus on grades, test scores, and academic milestones. These are tangible markers of progress, and they are important in many ways. But there is another set of qualities, less visible yet equally vital, that truly shapes who our children become and how they impact the world.

Don’t become preoccupied with your child’s academic ability, but instead teach them to sit with those sitting alone. Teach them to be kind. Teach them to offer help. Teach them to be a friend to the lonely. Teach them to encourage others. Teach them to think about other people. Teach them to share. Teach them to look for the good.

By teaching our children to share what they have, to seek out the good in others, and to lend a hand to those in need, we are giving them tools to build a better world. These are values that last, values that grow stronger with each act of kindness and each moment of empathy.

Let us all work together to focus on what truly matters. It is the character of our children that will shape the future. Let’s encourage them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and kind, because this is how they will leave their mark. This is how they will change the world.

Enjoy your long weekend. Thank you for all your support.

Dare to Dream,

Mr. Dees
