Dear Hunnewell Parents,

Sometimes, one moment, one voice of encouragement, can change a life. In seventh grade, Mrs. Dexter was ready to leave the band—until Mr. Tacarzek firmly told her, “You’re not going to quit band, young lady!” She stayed. And now, look at her incredible impact on so many young musicians.

It was one turn in the road, shaping not just her journey, but the musical adventures of countless children. The impact of a great teacher cannot be measured—it ripples through time, shaping futures in ways we may never fully see. Let’s take a moment to appreciate those who guide, inspire, and change lives with just a few words.

Return to school guidelines after viral illness School Year 2024-2025:

For any viral illness including: Flu, RSV, Covid, GI  etc. :

  • For any new symptom onset, please check a covid test. If Negative, repeat an additional COVID test in 48 hours. If positive, please let me know through the SNAP Parent Portal.
  • For all viruses, including positive  Covid:
  • Your child should be fever-free x 24 hours without fever-reducing medication (Advil/Tylenol). A fever is >100.0F
  • No vomiting or diarrhea for a complete 24 hours. If it happens in school, I will need to send them home for an additional 24 hours.
  • All Cold symptoms should be improved and manageable before returning to school.
  • After COVID-19 and if feeling better: it is highly recommended to continue to mask until your child has two consecutive negative tests 48 hours apart for the health and safety of those around them (other classmates and staff).
  • Your child should be school-ready: eating, tolerating fluids, and ready to participate including in PE and recess.
  • Excessive coughing and profuse nasal discharge that disrupt your child’s learning are not school-ready.
  • For alternative diagnoses requiring antibiotics, your child should have a full 24 hours on the antibiotic before returning to school. A full 24 hours equals 4 doses total BEFORE returning to school.
  • Though not required, consider a mask when around others 2-3 days following viral illness for the health and safety of other staff and students.
  • Please do not send in over-the-counter medications in your child’s backpack. All Medications, including over-the-counter medications, need to have a current Doctor’s order and WPS Parent Permission signed.

Thank you for all your support!

Dare to Dream,
