January 17, 2022
Dear PAWS Families,
I hope you are enjoying the long weekend!
Reminder – There is No School today, Monday, January 17, 2022 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
- We think of Dr. King and his work to end racism in the United States and to promote Civil Rights and racial equity. We continue the walk toward equity for all by working to ensure we grow in our knowledge and understanding of anti-racist and anti-bias teaching. As we know better, we can do and be better. It is a continuous march forward and one we have to get right. I hope you have a moment today to think of the work of Dr. King and of the work we still need to do to end racial discrimination and ensure all children and all people can live the dream of their best life.
Covid-19 Update:
- There were no cases of Covid-19 to report on Friday, January 14, 2022.
A Note from Nurse Zinta:
- For those who have been able to get your child vaccinated, please send Nurse Zinta a snapshot of your child’s Covid vaccine card or send a copy to her via backpack mail. She needs to reconcile the Pool Testing lists with those who have been vaccinated. Your cooperation will be very helpful. Thank you!
Reach out if you have any questions.
Thank You!
Thank you to the Hickson Family for snacks for the staff to enjoy this week! Your support and appreciation of the teachers and staff is greatly appreciated!
Thank you to the Vaysbrot Family for donating two large boxes of KF94 masks- one for the staff and one for the students. We appreciate having the high quality, well fitting masks on hand to offer to those who may need one!
I’ll close this newsletter with some of my favorite quotes from Dr. M. L. King, Jr.:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
Thank you for your ongoing support and positive contributions you make that help PAWS and the PAWS community! Stay safe and warm today!
Best,
‘Becca Z.
