Dear PAWS Families,
Thank you for all of the lovely Teacher Appreciation week notes and messages of appreciation that were written on the walkway into school welcoming everyone this week! A special thank you to the PAWS PTO for treating the teachers to a lovely luncheon on Wednesday and to all of you with your kind words and support. We are grateful for you!
Regarding our car line, we ask everyone to review the PAWS CAR LINE PROCEDURE LINK and the PAWS AT FISKE CAR LINE PROTOCOL LINK as we have had a few safety issues reported to us with the car lines recently. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring all members of the PAWS community follow the car line safety guidelines.
Please review the following with all of the drivers in your family and reach out with any questions.
Car Line Safety Highlights:
- Cars must stay in line and not cut out or around other cars.
- Students need to remain safely buckled in their car seats at all times, until your vehicle has stopped and your child is being met by a PAWS staff member at your car.
- Please turn your engine off, we are a no-idle district.
- Hanging out of car windows is not safe. Please ensure your child remains safely seated in their car seats until you are met by a staff member.
- Driving to and from school affords you teachable moments and even at the preschool level, your child is starting to learn the “rules of the road”, as you are setting a precedent and good example of safe and expected behavior in the future. Wearing a seat belt in a moving vehicle is one of those rules. Please see the Massachusetts Transportation Safety and Injury Prevention LINK for more information.
- If you have a special situation on a given day and you find that your child needs a little extra time and care, you are welcome to pull into one of the RESERVED FOR PAWS parking spaces at the left side of the parking lot as you face the building. The staff are happy to provide you and your child with extra support as may be needed.
Warm Weather Reminders:
- Please send your child to school with a water bottle each day (clearly marked with your child’s name)
- Apply sunscreen to your child at home before coming to school as we cannot apply it here
- Sneakers are the best option for fun and safe playground time. Flip-flops, crocs and sandals should stay at home.

Thank you!
A special thank you to the Wellesley Middle School 8th grade students show came last Wednesday on their Day of Service! They worked to clean up the side yard at PAWS and organize our toy storage sheds. They also painted some kindness rocks that are on display along our front walkway!
Wishing those who celebrate a Happy Mother’s Day this weekend!
