Dear PAWS Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed the amazing weather this week!  Seeing the children come in from the playground with pink cheeks inspired me to send you some Spring reminders:

  • Send your child to school with a water bottle each day with their name on it
  • Apply sunscreen to your child before coming to school as we are not allowed to apply sunscreen
  • Be sure your child is ready for changing weather and send your child to school in layers
  • Check to be sure each personal item is labeled with your child’s name
  • Sneakers are the best option for fun and safe playground time. Flip-flops, crocs and sandals should stay at home.

Carline Reminder

  • If you need some extra time at arrival or dismissal, or need to touch base with a teacher, please pull over into one of the “Reserved for PAWS” spaces
  • Please drive slowly and exercise patience in the parking lot
  • All children should remain buckled in their carseats until your vehicle has stopped and your car is turned off and in Park.

Looking for Loose Parts

  • Please save smooth and clean bottle caps, squeeze pouch caps, milk carton tops and other lids for a loose parts project for one of the classrooms.
  • Please save clean egg cartons and empty paper towel and toilet tissue tubes as well. Thank you!

Blue Spirit Day

  • April 27/28 –  Everyone is invited to wear something BLUE.
  • Starting on Monday, April 24th we  invite you to bring something small, recycled, and blue to add to our BLUE bulletin board.
  • (Image of a bulletin board with the word BLUE written in large letters against a blue background with white clouds, a sun, and several insects.)

News from the PAWS OT & PT Departments:

  • During the vacation week and any time, the PAWS OTs and PTs encourage our children to use their senses, activate their muscles and move!
  • They have shared this article for you to explore: 20 outdoor sensory play activities for young children
    • (Image of the OT & PT Bulletin Board that says: “I can SENSE that Spring is here! Touch, Smell, Taste, Listen, Look, Move, Activate Your Muscles” Images on the bulletin board include: children playing in a sandbox, blowing and popping bubbles, eating ice cream cones, smelling flowers, listening to a frog croak and birds sing, looking up at clouds floating by in the sky, children rolling down a grassy hill, climbing trees, walking in the woods, playing in the rain and splashing in puddles, jumping, singing and dancing with other children, pulling a little wagon.)

I hope you all have the opportunity to spend time together, reading books, and enjoy exploring all of your senses and activating your muscles during the April vacation week! We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, April 24th!

Best,

‘Becca Z.
