Dear PAWS Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the start of Summer! Attached you will find a set of SUMMER FUN IDEAS and resources with skill building activities to explore that we hope will inspire you to support your child in trying out a few new things to help prepare them for the upcoming school year! You might also enjoy checking out the summer reading book list on the 2023 Summer Learning Website. You may find these books at the local library!
Save the Dates:
Each year, preschool parents and students are invited to attend the PAWS Orientation days at the start of the school year. Please be sure to save the dates and times to be sure you and your child are able to attend this important day.
P.A.W.S. Student Visit Days and Orientation
- Orientation Day is an important day for students and their parents/guardians. Children and their caregivers are invited into the classroom to meet their teachers, specialists, and support staff. This is a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to practice what it will be like to come to preschool!
- Students and their parents/guardians will be invited to explore their classroom, find their coat hook and cubby space, meet their classmates and teachers, and play with some of the toys! This is an important opportunity for our preschoolers to visit the school prior to the first official day of preschool. Please be sure to email me to let me know if you are not able to attend.
Orientation and Visit Day Overview and Schedule
- Children and parents/guardians enjoy the first 15 minutes exploring together in the classroom, meeting the child’s teachers and teaching assistants as well as other school faculty and staff.
- Children and their parents/guardians are invited to play with the toys and meet the other parents and children in the classroom. Parents are then invited to leave the classroom to attend the P.A.W.S. Parent/Guardian Information Session, for approximately 30-45 minutes, while the children have the opportunity to stay and play in the classroom.
- We invite you to then head out to the PAWS playground to gather with your student’s classmates and the other parents, to begin to make connections and spend 15-20 minutes getting to know the other families in your child’s classroom.
Wednesday, August 30, 2023 – PK1.2, PK1.3, PK1.5 and PK2 will meet at PAWS at 9:30-10:30
Thursday, August 31, 2023 – PK 3 and PK4 will meet at PAWS at 8:45-9:45
– PK8 and PK9 will meet at Fiske at 10:30-11:30
Friday, September 1, 2023 – PK6 will meet at PAWS at 8:45-9:45
– PK7 will meet at Fiske at 10:30-11:30
More information about the start of school will be coming soon, but we wanted to be sure you had the Save the Dates and Times information to help you plan for the start of the school year.
We hope you will enjoy the many play resources shared and welcome you to take pictures of your child doing the things on the Summer Checklist to share with their classroom teacher when they come to school at the end of the summer!
