Dear P.A.W.S. Parents/Guardians,

Thank you to all of the parents who have provided comments, suggestions, and continued patience as we work together to improve the preschool morning arrival procedures.  We have been studying the car line and arrival routine. Yesterday morning we invited School Resource Officer Poirier to join us at P.A.W.S. to observe the the morning arrival. We have developed a plan that we will test out next week, and hope that a new car line, drop-off procedure, will create a smoother, safer, and more efficient morning arrival for everyone.

Starting on Monday, April 8, 2019, we will be implementing a new car line drop-off procedure.

Please watch THIS* short video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXWrSfPCfNY) that demonstrates where drivers will go for the new morning car line.  Please be sure to share this video with all childcare providers who are responsible for driving your child to school, such as your babysitters, nanny’s, and grandparents, to ensure all are informed about this change to the arrival routine at P.A.W.S.  Also, please remind your childcare providers to slow down when they enter the school parking lot, and to please hold hands with your child when walking in the parking lot.

We understand that some families will still need to park and walk into the preschool in the morning, but we encourage families to use the car drop-off line as much as possible due to the limited parking spaces in the parking lot. Thank you in advance, for your continued patience while we test out this new system, and work to improve the morning arrival experience.

*A special thank you to P.A.W.S. SLP Sue Basta, and her stand-in giraffe “helper” for assisting with the creation of the informational video!

New Car Line Drop-off Area During Arrival

We will be blocking off the first 4 parking spaces of the center parking area, and will try to use this space as the drop off car line loop area beginning on Monday. As cars loop in and drop off in this area, we hope to be able to avoid the area of congestion that occurs by the front walk walkway into the school. We will reassess and adjust this plan as needed. Please see ‘Becca with any questions or comments. Thank you for your help and cooperation!

The photo below shows the first four parking spaces marked off with traffic cones.  We will be using this area as a drive through for the car drop-off line in the morning.

Wellesley Middle School 8th Graders’ Day of Service

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, approximately 24, 8th grade students from the Wellesley Middle School, will arrive at P.A.W.S  to help with the spring clean up of the school yard, between 9:00-10:30! Each year during the 8th Grade Day of Service, the middle school students arrive at P.A.W.S. ready to work and ready to help!  In addition, we need a few P.A.W.S. parents to help supervise the work and to help coach and guide the 8th graders in the work.

The town provides several yards of bark mulch, and the 8th graders and P.A.W.S. volunteers rake out all of the leaves from our garden beds, and spread bark mulch to make the yard at P.A.W.S. look beautiful.  Please use this SIGN UP GENIUS LINK to indicate what you can offer to help – from garden tools, your time, or a box of munchkins, let us know what you can do!

Thank you in advance for letting us borrow your yard tools and for volunteering to help with this project!

P.A.W.S. CARES Needs Your Help

During the winter holidays, the P.A.W.S. Community was wonderfully generous in lending a helping hand to support P.A.W.S families in need.  We appreciate the kindness of the Village of P.A.W.S. to lean in with care, as hard times don’t only hit during the holidays. We currently have a need for food gift cards for groceries, size 5 diapers and wipes, and gas gift cards.  Please drop-off gift-cards in any amount to the P.A.W.S. CARES Box, located at the front office at P.A.W.S. and the diapers and wipes to Nurse Ann. Thank you for lending a hand to support our friends in need, at this time.  It does “take a village,” and we are grateful for your care, for the members of our P.A.W.S. family.
