Dear Bates Families,
It has been an exciting final full week of school. On Wednesday the staff enjoyed another wonderful luncheon hosted by the PTO. We were treated to a delicious meal at tables set with beautiful flowers and tablecloths. Thank you to all who helped to make each of our staff luncheons this year so special. We feel so appreciated. In addition, Wednesday night we enjoyed the Bates Family Picnic. It was a perfect evening for children and families to connect and celebrate the start of summer. Thank you to Kristin Jones and Alyssa Akgonul, our PTO family program coordinators, for the many family events sponsored by the PTO this year.
This morning we met for our final Community Meeting. During our Community Meeting we recognized our students who are moving on from Bates and celebrated the amazing year we’ve had. On Monday, June 20, we will celebrate our fifth graders and their families with a special Fifth Grade Graduation at 5:30 p.m. in the Bates Gym. Finally, on Tuesday, June 21, our last day of school, we will say a final goodbye to our fifth graders with our traditional “clap out” at dismissal. Starting at 11:50 a.m., we will call all students and staff to line the halls of the Bates School. At 11:55 a.m., the fifth graders will pass through the halls on their way out the front door as we clap for them. Parents are invited to join us for this event.
I would also like to make you aware of a few staff changes for next year. Judy Atanasov, our school psychologist, is moving on to a new opportunity. In addition, Rachel Silver will be leaving Bates to work in two other Wellesley Schools next year. We wish Rachel and Judy the very best.
Next week will say goodbye to some of our Bates families as well. We wish the Asp, Rodriguez, Blecher, Knowles, Kennedy, Juliano, Cavender, Arroyo-Ocasio, Loomis, Harrison, Blasco, Copeland, Nuwayhid, Tariq, Adler, Burton, Busny, Dawson, Grossi, Hulme, Martin, Hart, Snow, Xu, Zides, Staehly, Marshall, Choi, Glashow, Allieri, Floyd, Cannistraro, Goldenson, Guo, Malone and Palli families the very best.
